Our Story

When the Sagamore Distillery campus first opened in 2017, we did not have an accompanying Rye Whiskey Bar. At the time, no law existed in Maryland that allowed a spirit producer to serve cocktails on premises. Our space was originally named the Spring House Tasting Room and was used as a location where guests could sample our core lineup after taking tours of the facility. Then, in the early 2020s everything changed. Maryland passed legislation allowing distilleries to serve mixed drinks to the public made from the liquor produced on-site. And with that allowance came the transformation of the Spring House Tasting Room into Nineteen O’Nine, named after the year the original Spring House was built on the Sagamore Farm in Reisterstown, MD where our limestone filtered spring water is sourced. Ever since, our team has endeavored to offer quality service and whiskey cocktails to all those seeking the expansive possibility of Sagamore’s Maryland Style Rye Whiskey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I host a large, non-private event at Nineteen O’Nine?

While private events are only available on days when we are not open to the public, we do welcome larger groups looking to gather for birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, retirement parties, or any other occasion that calls for a celebratory whiskey cheers.

Seating at Nineteen O’Nine is first come-first serve, and we do have limited capacity, especially at our indoor bar. To best accommodate large groups, we ask for prior notice so that we can best help facilitate space for your party. Please reach out to our team if you would like to host a group of 10 or more, and we will be happy to help coordinate your outing: [email protected]

We also ask, but do not require, that large parties order under one beverage tab to help expediate service.

What if I do not particularly care for rye whiskey?

Worry not prospective patron! We have multiple options for those who are either new to, or who do not explicitly prefer, rye whiskey. Our team of experienced bartenders routinely craft drinks that incorporate diverse flavor profiles. We believe that our Maryland style rye blends well with a wide variety of ingredients and beverage styles. Still unconvinced, come try out Ryed Car or Espresso Ryetini.

Do you serve food at Nineteen O’Nine?

While we do offer some snack options such as Crab Chips, Popcorn, and Whiskey Truffle Chocolates, we do not offer a traditional pub menu as our facility does not have a commercial kitchen on-site.

We do allow outside food to be enjoyed on premises. We ask that guests be mindful of the sensory experiences of others, especially when occupying the inside bar. Plus all are welcome come take advantage of our extensive lawn and outdoor picnic tables where everything is on the table!

Do you serve anything besides Rye Whiskey?

We are constantly experimenting and bolstering our beverage capabilities. Everything we serve, we make ourselves, meaning that each cocktail enjoyed at Nineteen O’Nine is truly unique, crafted to expertly blend with our signature ryes.

Our Class 1 Distillery On-Site Consumption Permit prevents us from serving any alcohol that we do not produce at Sagamore Distillery. That, however, does not deter our Nineteen O’Nine team from executing a menu that is inspired by the complete spectrum of cocktails. Along with all our Core, Reserve, and Past Rye Whiskey Expressions, we incorporate our own amaro, bitters, whiskey vermouth, and house-made liqueurs into our menu. Check out some recipes.
