Our Penny’s Proof journey continues with another jam-packed day of celebration. This event always makes for one of the best days of the year for our associates, because we get to meet our most dedicated fans (you wonderful Whiskey Thieves) from all over the country who share our passion for Maryland-style rye whiskey.
Saturday, November 11th | Event Information
- You must pre-confirm your Whiskey Thieves status prior to arrival and receive a unique QR code for day-of check-in. Pre-confirmation does not guarantee Penny’s Proof three-pack.
- The first 397 Whiskey Thieves to check-in the morning of November 11th will receive a paper ticket that guarantees them a three-pack of Penny’sProof.
- Limit one three-pack per person
- No call-aheads, reservations or shipping requests

The Sagamore Spirit parking lot will open at 5am. The line que will also open at 5am. Parking within the rest of the Baltimore Peninsula is 24/7 including the Baltimore Peninsula parking garage. Normal parking rules/regulations apply.

No. The pre-confirmation QR code confirms you are a Whiskey Thief. You still must arrive on Nov 11th to receive a paper ticket. Once you receive a paper ticket this guarantees your first come first serve three-pack. You must complete the check-in process and follow the steps for pick-up.

Per Baltimore City regulations, no outside alcoholic beverages are permitted on site. You’re welcomed to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks.

Yes. Bottled in Bond will be available for sale starting at 9am. Bottled in Bond can be purchased by anyone, even if you didn’t receive a Penny’s Proof three-pack.

Our Maryland Grown Series is a line of 100% Maryland Distilled Straight Rye Whiskies, made entirely with local grains and aged in barrels crafted from Maryland oak trees.
This 3.5-year-old straight rye whiskey is a testament to Sagamore Spirit’s commitment to revive an iconic Maryland industry and create long-term relationships with our community. Our team distills 100% Maryland-grown grain on Penny—our 40-foot copper column still. This new-make is then aged in Maryland white oak barrels to make a truly one-of-a-kind Maryland Rye Whiskey found nowhere else on earth.
This release of Penny’s Proof showcases the investments we are making with local farmers to create a grain-to-glass program of the highest quality. Maryland’s rye whiskey history is long, and we are thrilled to be inspiring a global passion for Maryland Rye Whiskey along with our incredible community!

2022 Penny’s Proof Release
The launch of our Maryland Grown Series, a line of 100% Maryland Distilled Straight Rye Whiskies, made entirely with local grains and aged in barrels crafted from Maryland Oak Trees
2021 Penny’s Proof Release
The finale of our first Penny's Proof journey. We released a 4.5-year-old Maryland-made Rye Whiskey from the first distillate we placed in barrels in April 2017, plus our first Bottled-in-Bond!
2020 Penny’s Proof Release
We doubled the release of a 3.5-year-old Maryland-made Rye Whiskey. You still came out in force as we made pandemic-proof plans. Sold out again with a curbside pick-up and line of cars as far as the eye could see.
2019 Penny’s Proof Release
Our inaugural release - It was 297 bottles of our 2.5-year-old Maryland-made Rye Whiskey available to over 15,000 Whiskey Thieves who braved the cold and the sell-out trend began!
Winter citrus is a thing! And now that we are BACK OPEN for in-person experiences at the distillery (!!) you can make use of all those grapefruits and oranges you got from your Floridian friend. In-person experiences include Craft Your Own Cocktail tours (including this Sagamore Crush!) and guided tastings of our core whiskies and new releases.
